Question ?
In Step 5.

How come after you update your sport and lpp_source with filesets from ML3.
the oslevel_r =5300-01 and not 5300_03 ?

HI

Step 3 failed with the following error message [Configuring NIM environment]...How to resolve by creating bid_ow resource ? Please guide me

...Create the wsm_remote INSTALLP_BUNDLE resource...
The INSTALLP_BUNDLE resources have been created successfully.
Creating bid_ow resource ...
0042-001 nim: processing error encountered on "master":
0042-001 m_mkres: processing error encountered on "master":
0042-154 c_stat: the file or directory "/export/bosinst_data/bid_ow" does not exist

The bid_ow BOSINST_DATA resource was not created successfully.
The creation of the following resources FAILED:
The bid_ow BOSINST_DATA resource was not created successfully.
Correct the reported errors. When the errors have been
corrected, attempt again to create the resources that were
not created successfully.

Not to sure, not seen that message before. Have you tried to manually create the directory ?

What version and ML/TL of AIX are you running ?

Hi, sorry for the lack of replies, I have been extremely busy lately

Regarding the maintenance boot. You then need to boot the server from the network (refer to section 12 of document)

Regarding error BA010005 this is the unable to contact host. Have you tried to ping the NIM server from the firmware prompt prior to attempting to initiate the boot ?

Hi Folks!!!!!

Just curious to know whether I am right or wrong, as per my understanding we can build NIM master without mksysb also means nim client can be restored from NIM master not having mksysb as resource and only possessing lpp_source with BOS filesets and latest ML level, spot, resolv_conf for NIS, installp_bundles for additional softwares and scripts for soem customized scripts.

Am I right?
