RS6000 7044-170 ethernet adapter is DOA

I just purchased a IBM RS6000 7044-170, but the onboard ethernet adapter seems to be DOA.

Can anyone point me to a hardware list of supported PCI NICs for this system?

Have you found an ethernet card yet?

I have a 10/100 PCI ethernet card for your 170 (feature code 2968) for $25 if interested

Chapter 26 tells you what the system supports and where you can plug it.
The 9-P (2968) is a good 10 / 100 card for this machine and can go in any slot.
