Hello Everyone,

I am new here and wanted to say how much I have njoyed reading all the posts before joining this wonderful arena; I am Network Admin at my current job and have been asked to understand and learn AIX.

So I bought a cheap test box server which has AIX 5.2 right now loaded on it, does my current hardware allow me to install a DVD drive onto the system because right now it only has a cd drive on it and I am interested in installing 6.1 but it requires a dvd drive.

I don't believe you'll be able to upgrade to 6.1; doesn't your machine have a Power3 processor? You need at least a Power4 for 6.1 You can upgrade to 5.3 though..
