| I am having a probem booting my 7044-170 from the AIX53-TL6-SP1 CD. It starts to boot from the CD. The "starting software" displays and shows the correct CD device as the boot image, but then eventually hangs. The front panel displays 0518 unknown boot fs. I have upgraded the firmware to the latest SPH05195 Any ideas from anyone. |

As far as I know there are no bootable CDs at any SP levels. So I think you have an SP update and not AIX bootable / install media. You can only boot install media and it will only be at a TL level (effectivly SP0 for that TL) and you'll then need to apply any SP you want beyond that. Where did you get the CD? What is printed on the CD? because you cannot download any installable version of AIX due to the licence requirements. |

If you want to prove the ability to boot a recent AIX CD you can download and burn a bootable diagnostics CD: https://www14.software.ibm.com/webap...load/home.html The 170 is 64 bit so with the latest firmware the CD53060.iso should boot and be a good test for the systems ability to boot and load a recent AIX level. |
