Hi all!

I have a student from one of my AIX classes who is having a problem with their system. He has installed a Global Plus application on their p570 (Power6) machine running AIX5.2. When he tried to run the application, the following error occured:

Error mapping Fixed Shared Memory

[SI-F-SHMEMNOTEXISTS] The shared memory (global section) does not
exists> fsm__Init

Both the application and AIX are 64-bit.

Any suggestions on what we can do?

Yep, Migrate to AIX 5.3
AIX 5.2 is not supported on Power 6

I beg to differ Jan.
The power6 p570, 9117-MMA, the first power6 box released, supports AIX from 5.2 TL10.
No other p6 box supports AIX 5.2 but the rest came out quite a bit later.

bbb08, I do not recognise this as an AIX error, where is it reported?
I would check with the application provider first if they support the p6 environment.

You are completely right Duke. The first 3.5Mhz processors on power6 p570 do support AIX 5.2 ML10. Sorry for the confusion.

I cant find anything on the memory error.
