| Hi Friends I am new to this forum and AIX world even though I have 15 years of Unix experience with other flavours. My problem is as follows: We have 2 P570 and configured one as production and the other as Disaster Recovery. They are in different building (15 KM apart) with different network. They each come with 10x73G +6 x300G hard disks. It is configured with 14 LPARS on each with 2 VIOS servers. Currently all the LPARS are getting rootvg from internal disk and datavg from external SAN. What I am planning to do is as follows: I ma planning to move some of the datavg for around 10 LPAR’s to the internal disk. This is not a problem. The problem is I want to get datavg on production and DR in sync. In other words I want to mirror the datavg from one P570 to another P570. Will this be possible? If yes what is best way I can do it. I thought of using rsync to synchronise the volume group. Is it a correct solution or can mirroring possible. Thanks to all in advance. Velli |

I think your current setup of having datavg on the SAN is the best solution since you can simply do SAN replication across sites. For DR reasons, I don't think you should move your datavg to internal disks. If only rootvg is on internal disk, then you only need to take regular mksysb/Sysback images and store them on your NIM server at your DR site. Good Luck! |
