We replaced a 2gig DIMM on a 9117-570 and all went well till the partitions were brought back up. The message we are getting is that 2gig of memory is de-allocated and needs to be allocated. The system sees all the memory and no errors are logged. Is there something that we missed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks JimGarza |

Hello Jim. To my understanding, you need to re-allocate the memory that you've replaced. The system logs and hangs on to the previous fault, forcing the adminstrator to deal with the problem. I know you can access this menu through the HMC ASMI under Hardware Deconfiguration. Look into the Memory deconfiguration once your in there and notice that you probably have the 2GB deconfigured. Try and configure it and see what happens, and if this doesn't work, i believe you have to contact an IBM CE to walk you through the "CELOGIN" which they can do over the phone. Note: the 570 has to be under warranty with IBM. they will ask for a serial obviously. Hope this helps.. |
