Low cost storage solution IBM compatible

Does anyone know of a low cost storage array that could be shared among 2 p505's? IBMs smallest unit is much more than we need for this project and I don't see any Sun arrays that support AIX. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

How much storage do you need> If you are takking about sharing between 2 servers, do you mean in an HACMP cluster or just allocating two lumps of disk space - one to each server?

Minimal amount of space. Only need about 15G for the installation. The most important factors is that it can be a shared filesystem (using Veritas Cluster), and is supported on AIX.

I don't thonk there is a really low cost solution for this.

For shared storage like you need you will need fibre attached storage......

I don't have any vendors to mention, but I would recommend looking into iSCSI rather than Fibre Channel for that level of storage.

Smile Re: Low cost storage solution IBM compatible

Thanks, I was able to go with a D24 which is a bit more than I wanted to budget for, but alas this will work well.

The only other obsticle I'm faced with is how to change the SCSI Initiator ID on a p505, is this an option? I will have the D24 set as shared storage between the 2 505's. They will be clustered using Veritas Cluster with a failover service group (active/passive). Since they will be on the same SCSI chain, I'll need to set each 505 with a unique id. I've done this on a Sun in the OBP, but don't know how to go about it within AIX, any suggestions?

Thanks again, for the earlier replies!
