How quickly does "date -a -3600" work? | | I have a customer with several servers set to CDT timezone (despite them being UK based). As expected, their system clocks all jumped forward one hour last night.
To protect system and application integrity, I can't just change the clock back an hour and switch to GMT.
What I'm thinking is to (initially) use the command: date -a -3600
to slowly lose an hour and bring the systems back in line with realworld time. Then, as British Summer Time starts in a couple of weeks anyway, we'll get them to wait until then to change the timezone to GMT or GMT0BST and make any final clock time settings.
What I could do with expaining to the customer is over what period of time AIX will slow down the clock once the date -a -3600 has been issued. I cant seem to find this info anywhere.
Any suggestions/help would be gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Paul. |
