I have a p520 that I'm have trouble getting some hard disks to work with. I'll put 2 drives in the front bays, and they will show up but only as defined. When I try to format the drives it says that I need to run diagnostics on them, when I run diagnostics on them it says there is a corrupt formatting on them. I tried putting in a different set of drives and I get the exact same problem. When I boot from the AIX install CD's, it does not show any drives present for install. This is not the first time I've had problems with 9111-520s. We also have 9131-520s and those machines give me no problems at all. Let me know if you need any more information or clarification. |

Sounds like you have a raid controller. You'll need to format the drives for raid, 522 instead of 512 bytes per sector I think. Format them, then either create an array, or not of you just want jbod or AIX mirroring. Then AIX should recognise then and install OK. |
