| Hi, We have just come across a problem installing a new p52A. No HMC attached Local (temporary) serial console to T1, plus Graphics Display attached via KVM switch using IBM D shell/usb kvm converter cable. ASMI access no problem to serial console Normal boot with option set to 'boot to sms' hangs at terminal selection. Nothing on screens. Disconnected graphics port and usb connection - system boots to serial terminal no problem. It seems that the new IBM cables are usb2.0 'dongles' , and is a known problem. Using older usb1.1 kvm cables works. (Sorry don't have part numbers to hand) We are waiting on a fix from IBM for the usb2 cables. |
