Hi

We have several of those adapters and have no problems configuring:

lscfg -vp -l ent2
ent2 U7311.D20.1046AEB-P1-C07-T1 2-Port 10/100/1000 Base-TX PCI-X Adapter (14108902)

2-Port 10/100/1000 Base-TX PCI-X Adapter:
Part Number.................03N5298
FRU Number..................03N5298
EC Level....................H13845$
Brand.......................H0
Manufacture ID..............YL1021
Network Address.............00145EC597F0
ROM Level.(alterable).......DV0210
Device Specific.(YL)........U7311.D20.1046AEB-P1-C07-T1

PLATFORM SPECIFIC

Name: ethernet
Node: ethernet@1
Device Type: network
Physical Location: U7311.D20.1046AEB-P1-C07-T1

I would place a call at IBM HW Support and have it replaced. You can also install tha latest available firmware but neet to have the adapter in available status in order to do such operation. Please por the errpt entrie if exists.

Hope this helps

Re: Problem with IBM FC 1983 NETWORK CARD

Hi cdelgadop,

Thank you very much for the reply, i have replaced the cards with single port IBM FC 5701,

Since i was short on long slots i have placed this cards in short slots will it couse any problem to the system since a small portion of the circuit remains outside the slot but the cards are working fine i can see then available,

i have used the slots for display card/ 2 number fibre cards/ scsi card so i remain with only 2 slots one long and one short
one short i used for one network cars (5701)and one long i have used for another network card (5701)

Again thank you very much for the reply.
