Hi all. New to the place, and to AIX. Got a couple of issues with my recently acquired RS/6000. I believe it's a 7046-B50 (2U 604e 375MHz). This is probably in some FAQ somewhere but I've been searching for hours and can't fid it (probably because it's a total no-brainer). My RS/6000 has a fresh 5.3 install on it that's setup for a different LAN structure to mine (using 200.0.0.x - mine is 192.168.1.x) and it doesn't complete the boot process now. It sits for ages with a blank screen and the 0581 code on the LED code panel, but that clears after a while. It then loads into X and continues to boot, but stops part way. The last two lines on the console in the upper right are: "Starting NFS Services:" "Loaded biod daemon.... " Second line I can't remember completely but looks like a standard acknowledgment of the daemon starting up. Hence-forth it just sits there and won't proceed any further. Am I gonna have to break out the serial console? I have no non-root users so telnet is out... |
