I'm interested in this x86 emulator that supposedly IBM will ship on their new OpenPower and p5 systems starting next year. The name is QuickTransit, and supposedly it will allow you to run 3D applications (at a decrease in performance of course). This could be a big thing if it works, but that is a BIG if. While I'm posting, I thought I'd mention that I've been following the availability (or lack) of Power-based development systems that are priced low enough for individuals to purchase. I think it's important to get this hardware to the developers if more applications are ever going to be ported over, and I'm hoping that something like Genesi's upcoming OSW (dual-970MP system) will be a good start in this direction. Does anyone else think there is a market for Power-based desktop systems? Do any of you currently run Power-based systems at home?
