| To start with i have 2 open power servers model 720 installed with Linux Suse 9 Ent Edition for open power both this servers have 2 each internal disks connected to internal SCSI controller, both this disk are mirrored for redundancy, as far as suse linux is concerned there is no problem the system boots perfectly fine. Point 2 : i also have a EXP 320 storage box with 14 HDD out of this 14 Drives only 12 Drives are used to avoide conflicts with SCSI id, the EXP 320 is having 2 SCSI controller cards ie card A and card B, i have connected the card A to SERVER A and card B to SERVER B using SCSI cables supplied with the box, all the jumper settings are factory default no changes are made to any settings. Point 3 :I also have a IBM LTO tape Library connected to the secand port of the external SCSI controller card on the SERVER A. Problem : As i have said above the servers are installed and configured with Suse 9 and the servers ae working fine without any problem, the problem arises only when i connect and boot the system with EXP 320 ie when the server boots up the O/S kernal panics to reach the boot record ie instead of searching the boot record on the internal storage the O/S tries to find the boot record on the External storage is EXP 320. can somebody please help me as i am dtuck with this config for more then one month thanks and kind Regards Brazinho Diniz |
