I have an LPAR that uses a VIO server to get its resources, runs great under AIX so I thought I would try loading up Suse. I boot from the cd but the install interface looks all messed up in the virtual terminal window... anyone know how to fix this? EDIT: or another way to install? I have seen some people mention VNC to install it, but I am not sure how they are meaning. Install a VNC server on the HMC? If that is the case how do I do this? I have never installed software on the actual HMC. Your help is appreciated, Ccook Last edited by ccook; March 31st, 2008 at 20:48. |

What suse version did you try to install? just type vnc=1 vncpassword=some_passsword to install option then open http://hostname:5801 to your favorite browser and you will see YaST ![]() or use IBM_Installation_Toolkit to setup all device drivers correctly. |

Thank you for your response k0da. I got Suse Enterprise 10 installed on my LPAR by booting from the disk with the vterm and at the boot menu I entered "install vnc=1 vnc_password=password netdevice=eth0" When prompted I told the system to use DHCP. Then it listed an ip address and I VNC'd to that address. Hope this helps someone else in the future. Ccook |
