Guys I have a small query... I have two Lpars with following settings in Lpar profile.. Live Partition Backup Partition Min/Desired/Max = 0.1/0.8/2.0 0.1/0.1/2.0 Live Partition has virtual CPU settings as follows in profile ( Min/Desired/Max)=1/4/10, while backup partion has 1/2/10 The Live partition is uncapped and have a weight of 128, while Backup partition is uncapped. Now i have implemneted HACMP between these two Lpars , and going for application provisioining ( with application server settings of 0 & 2) Question is that i want to get my backup lpar expanded and take resources from shared pool.I performed the failover .. it succeded but when application server started on backup Lpar , it still gets 2 virtual processors ..is it correct behavior? On a side note , how i can know , how many processors are currently utilized ..how many processing units are available in shared pool? Does PLM is the only way to find processors utilization and shared pool? Regards Polani |

OK first up, is use of 2 CPUs the desireed behaviour? Yes it is as you have set the desired number of virtual CPUs to 2. The machine cannot use more than 2 CPUs total power - and that is dependent on their being the additional 1.9 CPU available to allocate. Please review how the CPU pools are allocated based on the weights to ensure that you have the correct behaviour. To expand the number of virtual CPUs you need to either use PLM or else you can do it by hand. In theory you can also do it in a scripting in HACMP that calls the relevant commands on the HMC - but that isn't an official route to take, and is dependent on the resources being available.
