Hi Everyone, I have p595 DEV frame with four VIO server and many VIO clients. The setup is VIO1/2 serve even numbered client and VIO3/ odd numbers clients I have been asked to move 3 x 36Gb san disk from a spare VIO client to a working vio client. I have a scsi adapter from vio3 and another from vio4 so that we can have mpio. the steps i took were as follows On the spare vio client 1) - removed the two scsi client adapters. 2) - on vio3 and vio4 change the properties for server scsi adapters so that it is redirect to the exisiting vio client. 3) - on the working client add new client adapter now when i logon to the working vio and run cfgmgr or reboot the client i cannot see the extra 6 x 35gb disk. Is there a step i have missed out or anything else i should done. Any advise Thanks |

Typically you remove the disks from their current vhost (your spare LPAR) (by something like rmdev diskaliashere -recursive, and then you need to remove the virtual disks from the spare client via the HMC, run a cfgdev on the VIO server (I usually need to reboot the VIO servers one by one to get the changes to catch properly.) Once the disks are freed up, simply assign then to the new client as you would a single drive by assigning the vscsi adapter to the correct lpar and assigning the disks to the new vhost that you have created. I usually keep the vhosts seperate and put a notation on the device name, like serverdrive2 for my own benefit. good luck! |
