I have a p550 (e-server) with a dual port NIC. Is it possible to assign that NIC to a vio server, run network drops (to the same vlan) from each port, then trunk these two together to get a combined 2GB network pipe that I can then virtualize? I see a number of potential problems with this, but it does seem like it can be done. I am just not certain how to do it. Thanks in advance for any insights! |

Never done it myself, however. In my mind it'd be to create a load balancing etherchannel on the VIO. Share that device to the LPARs. Problem I could see is the switch getting confused with packets coming on different ports if unlucky, thus blocking the port thinking it's weird. More a switch-configuration issue however.

Hi, You just need to create an etherchannel on the switch consisting of the 2 ports. What vendor/model of switch do you have ? HTH Steve
