Plenty of info. I just finished implementing a multi-tiered IBM SAN with a 4-node SVC for a client using Tivoli LAN free. What do you need to know?

Are you really use Shark storage (so sux)? Is it scsi or fc based? Do you have flashcopy/volumecopy licenses? In all projects that I've designed and implemented, SVC was used in very specific situations... The most common (and easy to implement) solutions are related to LAN Free Backup (Using some strong backup solution - like Veritas, TSM, BrighStor, Data Protector, etc), storage continuity solutions (like IBM [Flash|Volume]copy, EMC BCV/SRDF, etc)... Anyway, "lan free" backup could be until a backup into a LTO3 drive directly connected via SCSI... As "Administrator" said, what do you expect in your backup solution? Best regards, Luciano Martins. |
