restarting vio server

Hi,

My vio server and vio clients are booting from DS4700 Storage,

I want to know is it possible to restart vio server without shutting down vio clients if need arise?

or I have to shutdown vio clients then i can restart vio server

Depends how clients are booting - through VIO or direct to DS...
Generally it is better to shut down clients, which have disks through VIO server.

One at a time, but not both. That's the short answer. The longer answer is as long as you've followed best practices for a dual VIO configuration, including enabling fast failover on the fiber channel adapters. Otherwise, no.
