Re: problems in adding new lpars?

Is your SUSE LPAR using all of the resources on the system?
You can find this out by right clicking the SUSE LPAR's profile in the HMC, going to profiles and seeing if it says
"Profile is using all of the Managed Systems Resources" in the General tab.

Good luck!

@mshulman1980

oh yes, the Suse Lpar is using the default Profile and the default Profile says:

"Profile is using all of the Managed Systems Resources"

what to do to change this profile.. i dont want that my suse lpar is using all of the Managed Systems Resources

you are speaking about hmc... do you mean with hmc websm ?

so where i manage my hmc is websm
see @Attach File

it is ok to use websm?

Smile Re: problems in adding new lpars?

You can just create a new Profile on you current LPAR, but do NOT select "Use all resources in the system". Then, step through each page of settings making sure to reserve the required and necesary resources needed for the current LPAR. Only make use of the resources necessary for your application, then the remaining resources can be used to create additional LPARs.

You should probably use IBM's System Planning Tool to map out your Managed System's resources. Then, you will know if you have additional resources for other LPARs.

After new Profile is created, shutdown your current Activated LPAR and Activate the newly created LPAR. Your machine should be the same with the exception that you are now not consuming all of the resources. (This is assuming that you have additional resources to use).

Hope this helps!
