Hi We are working in the configuration of two VIOS in order to provide HA to the TCPIP network adapters provided to the clients. On each VIOS my partner have configured etherchannel devices as well as the corresponding Virtual adapters devices and the SEA device. Looks like we are taking the SEA failover approach. Wehn trying to startup the second VIOS a error code HSCL0282 arises. This one indicates that there's already an adapter with trunking active to a given VLAN and that there cannot be more than one partition with this feature available .... Anyone has experience with such configuration ??? Any help ?? TIA

Have you added a Control Channel? From memory the VIO Servers work in a Active/Passive mode and not Active/Active. The IBM APV Redbook has some great examples of what is needed to implement Dual VIO Servers. HTH Ben

Hi Ben Already solved the problem in the usual way. Reinstalled one of the VIOS from scratch. This way the procedure ran without problems including your recomendation about the crontol channel. Thanks for your answer.

Hi guys, We just ran into the exact same error HSCL0282 and then discovered this thread. We were just about to rebuild as suggested.. but then we found out that the SEA virtual ethernet config on VIO1 and VIO2 was slightly different. The VLAN tag IDs were slightly different. Once the same VTIDs were defined on both VIO1 and VIO2, then it all worked. Cheers, Wing |
