Hello all, I am having some difficulty creating volume groups on the VIOS server and am sure that it is because I have hit a limit somewhere but not too sure ?? My problem: I run # mkvg -vg cavg51 hdisk14 and this works I then execute # mkvg -vg cavg52 hdisk15 Some error messages may contain invalid information for the Virtual I/O Server environment. 0516-1184 mkvg: IO failure on hdisk14. 0516-862 mkvg: Unable to create volume group. I have done some investigation and if I remove the first volume group cavg51 and rerun the command to create cavg52 - it is successful: there are 10 volume groups already on the system and I want to add 4 more - what I dont understand is that the same operation works on the other VIOS which has identical configuration. is there something to do with max disk or max vg? please help. Chris.

After some investigation with this issue it became evident that the CPU and memory resource was not suffient - shortly after the original post I started to recieve fork errors when running commands. I increase the memory and CPU and hey presto my issue went away.
