I have a p5 55A. I have a single VIO server (for now) with 4 VIO clients. There are onboard and PCI 2-port 1GB adapters. I have setup my configuration with little redunancy at this point to get everything working. The only thing different I know of that I have different from the best practices Redbook for APV is I have the IP address set on en0 (physical adapter) instead of the en3 (SEA). When I try and copy from an external machine to the VIO server or ANY VIO client, the max throughput I can get is right at 100Mb. I have tried using different ports, different cables, etc and get the same exact speed. I have also connected a laptop directly to the port (nothing between the external machine and the VIO server but a single cable) and get the same throughput. Has anyone ever seen this? It is driving me crazy. I have other 550s and 570s that have 1GB cards with expected throughput. Also, I'm running VIO 1.4.1.2-FP-9.2, OS level is 5300-06-01-0000 All of my VIO clients are running 5300-05-04. |

What you are saying is that the Network Connection you are using for Virtual Ethernet has the IP address on en0 (the physical adapter) rather than the equivalent sea adapter en3? Well I would change that to begin with and then verify the switch settings on the VIO using: netstat -cdlistats | grep Media Which will show you the Media Speeds of each adapter like this: Media Speed Selected: 100 Mbps Full Duplex Media Speed Running: 100 Mbps Full Duplex That may give you a clue.
