EMC PowerPath Issue

EMC and IBM have recently discovered a problem with EMC multipathing software PowerPath where a LUN/hdisk could be left in an unreserved state.

When the LUN/hdisk is in an unreserved state, this could allow unintentional LUN access by programs or administrators while in a shared disk environment; potentially causing LVM IO failures and/or Reservation conflicts. This problem has been reported in EMC PowerPath versions 4.5.x.

If a customer is in a shared disk environment (using PowerPath 4.5.x) and has the above noted issue, the customer should call EMC support, reference EMC Primus Solution emc145919 and request the appropriate EMC PowerPath Hot Fix.
