Hi folks - EMC informs us we should install and run EMC Navisphere Agent & CLI (Command Line Interfaces) on our (2) VIOs (for two AIX LPARs) on a p550 running AIX 5.3.3.0 ML 04. In addition, the EMC Navisphere doc says the CLARiiON Disk Array Utilities must be installed on AIX before the Navisphere Agent & CLI. Our SAN is a CLARiiON CX700 series. (3) SAN drawers have already been zoned for exclusive access by the p550. Our virtual environment has been configured to not need EMC PowerPath. Does anyone know if these EMC products are required on the VIOs, or desired? If either of these are the case, does anyone know if these products are compatible with VIO? Does anyone know where we can get definitive and correct answers to these questions? Thanks very much for your input.

If you are not attaching Clariion disk to your VIO servers or other LPARs, I don't see any reason why you would want, or need, to install Navisphere on those LPARs. My question is, how did you get your Clariion disk assigned to your LPARs without Navisphere? |

Thanks hmv_smith - As things turned out, it was necessary to install both PowerPath and Navispere Agent on our (2) VIOs in order to make things work. As we speak, I have just completed configuring (3) LUNs. Now we will proceed to configure the (2) AIX LPARs.
