Dual VIOS on P561

Currently we have the raid enablement card installed in our Single drawer p561 ,
unknown to us at the time of purchase, this card joins both the onboard disk controllers into one which can't then be split across dual vios, so we ended up installing only a single vios ..
We would really like to have dual vios.

Can we just remove the raid enablement card and have access to each controller to a separate vios ..

AND

will each controller get 3 of the 6 drives installed internally.

Thanks In Advance

Re: Dual VIOS on P561

You should be able to just ignore the RAID card - so long as the drives aren't fromatted to use it. If you have formatted them that way - you need to maintainence boot the server and use diag to remove the disks from the RAID setup.

As for the Drive Bays - the Left 3 bays will be allocated to the first controller and the other three to the right one.

Re: Dual VIOS on P561

Thanks Ross ..
I dont think they were formatted together , as any mirroring is done at the lv level (thats why the raid enablement card is useless to us) ..
anyway .. this is the lsdev ... for the drives and cards ..(from the vios)

Re: Dual VIOS on P561

You look like you are correct. If you allocate each SCSI adapter to a separate VIO LPAR then it should all just work.
