Howdy folks,

I have a p570 with a couple of VIO servers and some LPARS running 5.3, TL7. I would like to configure one of these LPARS as a media server within dataprotector.

In order to do this, I need to assign a dedicated HBA to the LPAR and zone it to the tape library we are using. Is there a way to make an HBA available to this LPAR through the VIO server or would I have to assign the physical resource to the LPAR?

Hi

Up to date there's no virtualization of the SCSI tape traffic in VIOS. So yes, you will have to assign at least one physical to your tape library.
