Dedicated HBA

Hello,

I have two HBAs on my JS21 blade and VIOS installed. How can I assign the HBA to the AIX LPAR? I need a dedicated fibre channel adapter (visible from the LPAR).

Please help.

Regards.

Re: Dedicated HBA

Hi

Sorry. You cannot. In JS21 the IVM (Integrated Virtualization Machine) by default creates a whole Logical Partition with all physical resources and then allows you the creation of some other LPARs using resources provided by the first LPAR (the whole one, it's really a VIOS LPAR).

Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply.

The idea behind the my post was to install oracle rac on a virtualized js21. This however is not supported :-).

Thanks again

Re: Dedicated HBA

Hi

Isnt'n RAC supported on JS21 ?? Hmmm, well i once configured one JS21 for SAP development and QA enviroments for a commercial banking customer. I remember SAN admins gave me many LUNs and using IVM i created Storage Pools and assign to each LPAR. I remember both of them ran Oracle 10. But i don0t think it was a RAC configuration.

Anyway, hope this helps

Re: Dedicated HBA

Hi,

you can dedicate the LUN/vdisk to a LPAR from the VIOS. (mkvdev)
