My text in the 2nd paragraph of the previous thread of the same subject referred to 'AIO' - I meant 'VIO'.

I have 2 P570s, each P570 has a bunch of LPARs(one vio server per P570). We have EMC Clariion CX600, powerpath has to be installed on the VIO servers ONLY. Also, latest powerpath versions require a migration(backup and restore) as it changes disk identifucation from pvid to uid. VIO supports powerpath and there are some very good documents out there on the IBM/EMC websites. Make sure to get the blessings from the vendors before you install powrepath. |

Thanks sandasani - I am very concerned about the lastest PowerPath changing disk ID from PVID to UID - and so a migration of data would be requrired if one were to upgrade to it. I have asked my network Admin to check into it. Also, please note my new post regarding a Powerpath Hot Fix that should be applied. It was necessary to install the following AIX filesets on our (2) VIO Servers on the p550: EMC CLARiiON Fibre Channel Support Software v5.2.0.4. EMC PowerPath Base Driver and Utilities v4.5.1.0. EMC PowerPath Consistency Group Extension and Utilities v4.5.1.0. EMC PowerPath HighRoad Extension and Utilities v4.5.1.0. EMC PowerPath Multi_Pathing Extension for Active Active v4.5.1.0. EMC PowerPath Multi_Pathing Extension for Active Passive v4.5.1.0. EMC PowerPath Multi_Pathing Extension for Clariion v4.5.1.0. EMC Navisphere Disk Array Management Tool (AGENT) v6.19.2.6. EMC Navisphere Disk Array Management Tool (CLI) v6.19.2.6.
