I have a P9131-52A with a SCSI Enablement Card with 4 disks in RAID 10 and 4 disks standalone. When i try and install the VIO Server I am unable to see any disks (No disks available for installl error message). Is there a way to circumvent this problem? I have successfully installed AIX 5.3.04 on one of the disks. So the disks can be seen by that install. Also, the disks are visible from SMS on bootup of the partition. Why aren't the disks visible to the VIO Install? |

Hi, What version of VIO are you trying to install ? Just to confirm, you have assigned the SCSI card to the VIO partition. You boot into SMS and can see the disks. You select the disk to install to but when the VIO install starts, it displays the message ? HTH Steve

You should check that the server virtual SCSI slot number is mapped correctly. To check for that, right click onthe profile of the server/clientclick on propertiesclick on the Virtual I/Otabcheck the properties of the server/client SCSI adapter to see that remotepartition and remote partition virtual slot number for the choice "only selectedremote partition and slot can connect" are correct.

Is your SCSI adapter the RAID-Card? If so, you need to boot from your DIAG CD, format and organize the disks, then you can proceed with installation as normal. |

I had the same problem. Was using the VIO 1.1 disk. As soon as I used 1.3 the problem went away and I can see both the disks on the SCSI bus. This Forum is very helpful. Wish I had found it months ago. |
