| Hi everyone We recently got 2 p570 and 2 HMCs, which we placed (one each) in 2 different locations. (Prod. and DR location) I now would like to use the "private" zSeries Network, which connects the zSeries Machines and their HMCs, as the System p's private Network. (This network links the 2 Locations) In this Network there is a DHCP Server, which I would like to use. So I would configure my HMCs as DHCP Clients. With this kind of connection all my System p Machines would run in the same IP Range. Would that be a problem? cheers mike

I tried it myself but with no luck. I set up a private network, with a DHCP Server running. I also connected a HMC to it an tried to get an IP Adress from the DHCP Server, but when the HMC starts it says it couldnot obtain an IP Address. On the other Hand, when I try to get a IP Address with a Laptop in this network, it works without any problems. Does anybody has a hint for me??? Could it be that firewall rules of the HMC are blocking?regards mike
