I have an HMC connected to a p550 and I do my open virtual terminal to this thing and I get NO console. What gives

If you log on to the websm there is an area called HMC management. In here you will find the option to enable /disable remote virtual terminal. This should enable virtual terminals

Is the 550 LPAR'd or as it came out of the box?
"NO console": not even a window, or nothing in the console window?
Is the 550 up and running?
Can you telnet / connect to the 550 from another system?
How is the HMC connected to te 550?: direct cable, via a switch, via 15 networks and about 25 firewalls?
If you ssh to the HMC or open a terminal on the HMC and run vtmenu can you select the 550 / LPAR and then connect?
Can you give us any less info?
