Hello friends, I have 1 p690 server installed at remote location. I dont have physical access to that server. Now I have created 1 LPAR, I have assing 1 Backplane from IO drawer. I want to know wether the backplane is having disk or not? how can know it from HMC ? Ritesh |

Ritesh, I am sorry, but what do you mean with "one backplane"? Regarding to HMC information, probably you are using HMC version 3.x (only that supports POWER4 servers - like 7040-681 P690). Normally internal disks are related to "scsi adapter" resources. Did you see something like that? Regards, Luciano Martins. |

Hi Hmmm, remote p690 ?, well, if you can manage to get help from someone there in the remote site you can ask for put the Diagnostic CD and boot your LPAR from CD and make the disk flashes by using the Identofy option of the diag menu. You can also start you LPAR to a NIM Server and perform the install procesure until the disks where you want to install are displayed. You can also explain someone on your remote site the way p690's I/O drawers are configured and ask him to identify the disks in the front of the p690. Hope this helps
