Hi All, I upgraded my hmc from version 4.5 to version 5.2.1. Everything looks fine as far as the partitions and the functionality of the HMC. But when I right click the PARTITION-->virtual I/O-->Virtual Scsi adapters / Virtual LAN. There are no entries inthe Virtual SCSI topology or the virtual Lan adapters windows that pop up. Did anybody experience this?..what could be the problem?

I've seen it happen several times. A couple of questions: Did you back up critical console information first? If so, you'll be able to recover your HMC to its previous state. Did you save upgrade data before you began? This is an upgrade to a protected filesystem inside the HMC.

Yes I did backup the critical console data + save upgrade data just before the upgrade from 4.5 to 5.2.1. but restoring those would make me go back to the 4.5. 5.2.1 is working just fine with 4.5 capabilities . But I am not seeing the benefit of upgrading ...like the one I mentioned

Did you apply the save upgrade data after the upgrade? That should have restored your configuration data

Hi , Here are some pictures inthe attachment which show my problem..... I learnt that the firmware the p5 595 was at does not support the capabilty of vio mapping. Even though the IBM site cleary says in their site its all supported with that version of firmware of 595 and the HMC code. Many would run into this if they are upgrading to version 5.2.1....hope this helps!! --Kumar

Good info, Kumar. IBM documentation wrong? Hmmm. Surely this can't be? ![]()
