| Hi all, I have problem with my HMC and need your help. 1. I have 2 racks and one HMC - 1st Rack owns 4 p570 servers and LCM switch connect to KVM, Flat panel - 2nd Rack is for 4 p550 servers and a mounted HMC controls 4 p550 servers. 2. Now I want to activate my p570 CPU and need HMC to do this task. So I use a RJ 45 connect from HMC1 on p570 to the switch where HMC and all servers in 2nd Rack plugging in. 3. I shutdown my p570 and HMC then I start my HMC first then p570. I see in Server management windows appears only 4 p550 and has no signal of p570. I see in OP of p570 appears HMC = 0. 4. In other way, I use a RJ45 crossover cable to connect directly from HMC port to HMC1 on p570 and reboot all. But my HMC does'nt see p570. What should I do now? Thank you for your help Herzt |

Herzt, You need to add the managed frame to the HMC. Make sure your network is connected, go to the WSM on the HMC. Go into Frame management on the left side, then in the menu bar select frame management - add managed frame and follow the instructions Dave |

| Hi Dave, I solved my problem. And I learned some exprerience from there. If you want to make HMC supply IP address for your server by DHCP, you have to do some steps in following order. 1. Shutdown both pSeries server and HMC. (Very important that you have to unplug power cable from pSeries server after shutting down) 2. Use a crossover cable connect directly from HMC to HCM 1 port on pSeries server. 3. Power on HMC first and then plug power supply cable to the pSeries (No need power on pSeries server) 4. Wait until the green lamp on pSeries flash on. 5. Open Server management on HMC and press F5 to refresh untill pSeries server appears. So you can easy to find your server. But you need wait for a quiet long time to see your server. Thank you Dave Herzt |
