What you need to do is to make the HMC backup to the DVD-RAM not the hard disk and then do a fresh install. Near the end of the install you can restore the backedup data from the DVD-RAM. To be safe however, make sure you know what all your server HMC passwords are.

No, you wouldn't want to do that as all the TCP/IP information is saved in the upgrade data so you would have dual IP addresses on the network.

Only oif you turn the other HMC off or else you'll have two with the same IP address on the network. This is not a supported configuration and if it doesn't work don't expect IBM toi help you. Why not just discover the machines and enter the passwords for them one time?

The HMC's will be on 2 different networks. We are moving all our equipment from one datacenter to another. Half of our pseries are in one of the datacenters and the other half is in the other. We wanted to clone the existing HMC and set it up to work in the new datacenter. |
