| 0214081007.jpg Hey guys, New to IBM hardware and ran across this forum so I thought I'd ask for a little help. We've recently purchased an HMC (7310-CR4) and a couple new servers (9133-55A's). I connected and powered these all on before realizing what the HMC was all about. After reconfiguring these 3 servers, I finally have them showing up in the HMC as managed systems. I also redirecting the console on the server to /dev/vty1. now, when I open a console, I am getting output on boot but it is unreadable and will not accept any input. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Location and such seem to be set correctly. Attached is a 'screen shot' of what the on screen display looks like. Thanks for any help/advice offered. |

The console should be /dev/vty0 for the HMC to work properly. Please ensure that you have defined lpars for each of the servers holding the hardware that they actually use. To be honest, you've made some elemntary mistakes that could bug you for a while, even though you seem to have sorted it. I'd try and get the LPARs reimplemented following best practice.

Thanks for the heads up and I am sure i've made mistakes. We're an HP shop but forced to use IBM by recent vendors. When you say LPARS implemented using 'best practices' where can I find some of that information? Thanks for the reply. |
