HMC backup

Guys ,

I`m trying to perform HMC backup on a DVD ..
new DVD
formated

Click on backup critical data - error -HSCp002 -make sure DVD is inserted -I checked it -It`s in .
When I click save upgrade data , I get following error :
HSCP0026
An error occurred while trying to mount the media. Ensure the removable media is inserted correctly and try the operation again

Am I missing anything here ?

Thx .
SD

Re: HMC backup

What kind of DVD media are you using? My IBM drive would only write to DVD-RAM.

Re: HMC backup

I don't think that's going to work. Please look this list from the IBM site:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docvie...256fb0007413b2

If the link doesn't work, search on "DVD - RAM Media list of supported Media"

Dave

Edit: Updated IBM link as of 09/25/2008. DT

Re: HMC backup

Yes, you must use DVD-RAM media on the HMC. FYI - you can also run your backup to a remote system..I quite frequently backup to one of my unix systems.
