| Is anyone hanging 505's and 510's off HMC's? I have 9115-505 attached to a 7310-CR3 VR6.1.1 and the HMC does not seem to want to see the 505 as a managed server.

Does your HMC use DHCP to configure SP ethernet ports? If yes: - check IP configuration on HMC - check IP address of the SP (set LED panel to 02, change "N" to "M", scroll to 30*) At this point, you should be able to recognize, if networking is the root cause of your problem. Try to ping SP from the HMC. If SP's IP address does not follow your HMC settings for DHCP, simply turn p5 box off and start it again with HMC connected. I hope this will help a little.

Well one of the things I noticed was that when I try to access the ASMI via the ethernet port I pull the ASMI GUI in but the only option I get is to change passwords..No other options appear. The ASMI seems to see and can identify the 9115-505 but that is it.. I have been able to get in the sp via serial connections and I can power off and power on the 505. IBM has changed the 505 system board yesterday but that changed nothing. The only console I can set is when I have my laptop attached via serial connection and I do not want that..I will try your proposed action but I think the IBM CE already tried that yesterday. The IBM CE will be in today and I will run this by him..Thank you very much for the help.

Hi there. I'm afraid it's not a simple task. When moving from IVM to an HMC, the configuration setup must be manually rebuilt. Moving from IVM to HMC to vice versa requires a lot of reconfiguration, so I reckon it's best to stick with what you have, unless you have a very real need. |
