When I try to open a terminal window using MSIE, it never appears, but "Open Terminal Window" appears on the menu bar. If I click that text, I get a "cannot switch task" dialog box.

Firefox works ok...a bit sluggish with the window, but it functions.

Any clues (besides MSIE sux)?

Never mind. I had to set MSIE to use the Sun JRE 1.5.0_11.

Should've caught that one right away!

Anyhoo, regardless of browser used, the terminal window is not as responsive as the one from pre-V7 HMCs. It's almost like being on a Power4 HMC that's serial-connected to the frame (or running uphill in the sand). Just my $0.02.

i have heard some say that hmc v7 is faster than previous versions. i've started using it in the last week, and it seems slower. do you find it to be faster in MSIE or firefox. for me, MSIE seems a little faster. have you made any tweaks to your browser that made it faster?

I'd say it was the JRE performance, but the same JRE is in use where I create a vconsole in v6.21 or v7. Latency is so annoying that now I just resort to an SSH session to the HMC and then run vtmenu.
