I am trying to gather HMC information. When I enter the following command it works for some systems but not others. What would be an alternative command that would work on all system versions? ssh <HMC Name> lssyscfg -r sys This is the error I am getting: The command entered is either missing a required parameter or a parameter value is invalid. The required parameters for this command are -r and (-n or --all). Please check your entry and retry the command. Thanks, ~D |

I always do it this way: ssh hscroot@hmc_name "lssyscfg -r sys" There is one version of the HMC where this doesnot function correctly - If I recall correctly the initial release of 6.1.2. Upgrading the HMC withthe latest 6.1.2 fixes will solve that problem.

The failed message looks like it came from a p4 HMC . Version 3 or less. The p4 HMC needed the --all You should query the version before you issue the command. lshmc -V All of the HMC versions going forward V4 + are architected to not break existing command line syntax. |
