Connect an HMC over a network interface (P4)

I would like to connect an HMC (V5.2.1) on a p615 (Power 4). Only serial ports are available on this server and the HMC manage only network access ...

Someone tell me that I can use a network interface on this server, but I don't know how to attach this interface to the service processor.

Someone could help me ?

Thanks in advance.

Smile Re: Connect an HMC over a network interface (P4)

I do this to remotely manage P570's through the HMC. ( I've never tried this on a p4 series, so I'm not sure if it is the same)

The basic steps are as follows:
  • Configure laptop ethernet to subnet 192.168.x.x, subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
  • Connect crossover cat-5 cable to HMC1 port on back of managed system. (Could also use HMC2 port)
  • Open browser to: https : // 192.168.2.147 (for HMC1) or https : // 192.168.3.147 (for HMC2)
  • Login as admin.
  • Go the Network Services on ASM menu
  • Configure eth0 for HMC1 to static IP address on your network
  • Save your changes
  • Disconnect laptop and connect standard network link.
  • You should then be able to open a browser on a machine on your network and https : // dnsname or ipaddress
There are several IBM redbooks on the configurations of this in addition to several posts I've seen on this message forum. Combined with the other information, this should accomplish what you asked.
