I need to assign a functional HMC a new ipname and address. If I login, make the associated network setting changes and then reboot I end up with both the new name and the old name appearing in the HMC list. The old name is obviously unreachable but has all of the prior LPAR and System definitions. The new name is reachable but has none of the prior LPAR and System definitions. Is there some simple means of renaming the HMC while retaining the prior LPAR and System definitions? Thanks. |

Hi Is this using WebSM or direct access on the HMC? I've only seen this when the host file on my PC or DNS name of the HMC does not exactly match that of the HMC itself. So might want to check that host files and DNS both match the FQDN of the HMC. Hope it works out... |
