Does your HMC use DHCP to allocate IP addresses on the Private LAN?

my existing system is p5 55A with 6 partitions. my new system is p5 51A with only one full partition will be using as a NIM server. The HMC is 7310-CR4 and yes, my HMC use DHCP to allocate IP addresses on the Private LAN. Should I need to connect p5 510 to the HMC or just purchase a graphic adapter card and just use as a stand-alone system since I don't do any LPAR with this server? Thanks in advance for your help. |

No need for a graphics card. Connect the HMC1 port of the new system to the HMC eth0 adapter, along with the existing system, and then connect power to the new system. The HMC should then show the new system after a couple of minutes. On the HMC power up the new system and take it out of MDC. Off you go! |
