Running AIX 5.3 ML07, cisco 3650 set to 1000/full and p51a set to 1000/full. entstat -d en0 shows Media Speed Selected: 1000 Mbps Full Duplex Media Speed Running: 1000 Mbps Full Duplex After reboot it shows Media Speed Selected: Auto negotiation Media Speed Running: 1000 Mbps Full Duplex lsattr -El ent0 shows media_speed 1000_Full_Duplex Media speed True Is the reading of entstat after the reboot a false reading? Does anyone know of any issues in this area? Thanks. Last edited by rsb3; March 20th, 2008 at 10:10. Reason: title / description added |

Nothing to worry about, working as designed and to specification. For GB ethernet adapters there is no such thing as forcing it to 1000FD, the standard only accepts / defines autonegotiate. What AIX does, because the autonegotiation standards are rubbish, is to autonegotiate, but only allows an autonegation speed of what you selected, 1000FD. After the reboot it is just being honest and admiting it really just autonegotiated at the only option it would accept. |
