I want to change the default profile that's created for all new users to that it includes a new path. Which .profile do I need to change? /etc/profile? /etc/security/.profile? TIA Dave |

You could also add the new path to the PATh variable in /etc/profile so that all users have the path updated. If you need to add the path to existing users as well this is easier.

General Path changes are more likely done in /etc/environment due thats the place is where the PATH Variable of each user is generated. You can do them in /etc/profile as well but if one edits the variable there the other one there it might get unclear where the path is set. Just my € 0.2 on PATH setting Cheers seth |
