Hello there, I have got the following problem: i installed aix 5.1 on a p630 system and after rebooting i cant get into aix it stucks on the message that the terminal is not initialised properly and i need to choose a terminal type, but i cant press any key here, and the keyboard doest react. well i shutdown the system rebooted and went to maintance mode, here i did the following TERM=vt100 ; export TERM ehen i do echo $TERM i get vt100 as an anser this is good. but when i then restart i still get the same message. when i restart again into maintance mode and i do echo $TERM is gives nothing. it seems like it doesnt remember this setting. i use an emulation program emulating vt100. Does anybody know how i can get the system to remember this setting so it wont stuck on the message. Please help. |

You probably need to get it into the tty device setting before the .profile is even read or you still will not get a login. Boot to SMS and set the console, then.. Do a maintenance mode boot and: Smitty tty Change / Show Characteristics of a TTY Pick your tty, probably do both while there. Scroll down to TERMINAL type Set to vt100 Hit the go button Check for a Command: OK and ttyx changed reboot HTH |
