Dear Friends, We have P 615 (7029-6C3) Machine. In that machine AIX 5.2 with ML 4 is installed and running properly. Now we want to make this system as Production Application Server, then we Re-installed the AIX 5.2 with ML 10 CD. After restarting the machine is not working, means we are not able to view any messeges on Monitor and we got E170 error code at Display Panel. To trouble shoot we are not able to see messages on monitor and atleast we are not getting SMS Menu on Monitor. Please suggest us how to proceed to bring up the system. Regards, Pramod |

You havea pci problem, either a card has faied or the motherboard: http://publib16.boulder.ibm.com/pser...pdf/380630.pdf This is the service guide for your system. Checkpoint Description Action/ Possible Failing FRU E170 Start of PCI Bus Probe Follow the repair action listed for checkpoint E151. E151 Probing primary PCI bus If a location code is specified, replace the adapter at that location code. If replacing the adapter does not resolve the problem, replace the I/O backplane in which the adapter is plugged. If no location code is specified, go to "MAP 1540: Problem Isolation Procedures" on page 110. Take out all the pci adapters and then see where it hangs, or call hardware support. Good luck. |

When we power on the system the machine it is stopped after particular codes( ...,9114,911E,9115,9116,911F,9117 stopped ) The machine is working without any problem from 3 years, when we re-installed the AIX 5.2 with ML 10 CD then we are stucked. Let me know is it problem with ML4 and ML 10 difference. If that is the case how we need get the system back up and running. Rregards, Pramod |

So you no longer get the E170? The advice for the 9117 code is also in the service guide, see the link in my last post. You should check the system firmware and adapter and device microcode is up to date before you attempt to update the software: http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/set2/firmware/gjsn |
